The scene of the crime...
See those little purple paper scraps? She started out cutting up paper.
But hair was so much more fascinating.
My first response was tears...This picture breaks my heart. Because my tears brought about her tears.
And then came the guilt. Oh, the incredible guilt.
You see, I am speaking to a group of ladies at Bible Study in the morning. I needed some time this afternoon to collect some final thoughts and finish preparing. And my child that usually takes a 2 hour nap took a 30 minute nap...today of all days. And she was not cooperating the way I thought that she should. And then I lost it with her. PLEASE GO FIND SOMETHING TO DO AND LET ME WORK ON THIS!
Ouch. Sometimes I am without a doubt a terrible mother. And I am pretty sure I didn't need to be speaking to anyone after that attitude.
So she did find something to do. She sat quietly at her art caddy for 30 minutes cutting
So then I hugged her and held her and rubbed her back and sobbed and just kept saying, "I am so sorry I yelled at you." And then I told her she was beautiful and I loved her new hair cut but let's please just let Mrs. Sabrina cut it from now on. And she forgave me.
And then we laughed. As much as I loved her long, beautiful hair, we laughed. Because it is, after all, just hair. It will grow back.
And then my sweet friend, Kristee, came to the rescue with an emergency haircut. After she told me she looked like Billy Ray Cyrus which made me laugh hysterically. I was thinking more like Ruby Sue from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
More hair on the floor...
And the end result...
Cute as a bug!
Now, if I can only figure out how to help that little stubby bald patch in the complete front and center of her head! :)
Sleepy Tight, little pixie! I love you!

I've looked at the post so many times and it still makes me laugh. Owen you are a mess! You are beautiful with a mullet, pixie, bald spot or whatever... I'm glad she didn't cut her scalp when she decided to take it real low in the front!!
This is so funny but so not funny because I know I will be calling you in this same situation very soon!!! That front patch of hair is impressive...how in the world did she manage to get it that short? The new haircut is cute and every child needs a memory like this. (:
I love the cute, even with what it took to get there. Very sweet. I find myself doing the same thing and really working on not getting frustrated. It's hard sometimes. She is precious!
Bless your heart!!! I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes while laughing! For what it's worth, the new haircut really does suit her!
Oh Kristen! The good thing is she is adorable no matter what! I really do like the new haircut.
Oh, this post almost made me cry with you. I can see myself doing the very same thing that you did. So take a little comfort in knowing that you're not the only mama who has those "terrible mama" moments! The new cut turned out really cute in the end!
I had seen some of the other pictures of Owen with her "new haircut" and thought there must have been a story behind it. I must have missed that post somehow!! Thank you for sharing. She will have the best story to tell one day!
